Death

Death #13-Ruled by Scorpio which is Ruled by Pluto- Water Element

The Death card in the tarot is a card of transformation and change.  A piece of one's life is dying and falling away.  Change is unavoidable.  Death is like entering into the cocoon and leaving as a butterfly. Scorpio energy is determined, intense, extremely powerful, transformational, magnetic and protective.  The energy of Pluto is that of letting go, forgiveness and unavoidable change.  Pluto allows us to see that although we have no power over death, we can let go gracefully of those things that need to die in order to create new beginnings.

Herbs of Pluto

According to Karen Harrison, herbs relating to Pluto often can bring about dramatic and sometimes traumatic changes in the psyche.  Pluto herbs can help to balance the physical with the spiritual.   I noticed that some of these herbs can be transformed into an alcohol.

Barley, Black Cohosh, Corn, Damiana, Galangal Root, Mushrooms, Myrrh, Oats, Patchouli, Saw Palmetto, Wormwood.

Carrier Oils

Since we are working with Death, I would use oils such as Borage, Camellia, Flax, Grapeseed, Rose Hip, Sunflower.

Directions to create a Pluto Oil.

Choose 2 to 6 herbs to use in your potion, one essential oil and one stone.  Usually 1 tablespoon of each herb will work depending on how many herbs you have.  Combine all ingredients into a jar and cover with the carrier oil of your choice.  Let sit for 2 to 3 weeks shaking and mixing often.  Strain and pour into a bottle of your choice.  You can dress candles with your blend or place on magical tools as well as place upon your skin.  Be sure to put your intention into the blend.  Always check precautions on essential oils.
