The Hermit

The Hermit #9- ruled by Virgo which is ruled by Mercury- Earth Element

Mercury is fast moving energy.  Mercury relates to communication of all kinds and messages as well as short distance travel.   The Hermit is the Guide, the teacher, the wise one and needs to be able to communicate clearly and express himself with confidence and wisdom.   The energy of Virgo is that of preciseness, organization, and service to others, as well as having a sensitivity to the energies that surround, giving the Virgo the gift of intuition.  These are all qualities of the Hermit.  The Hermit is always of service to others and also asks that you complete what needs to be finished. The Hermit asks you to go within and communicate with yourself, your intuition, your wise one, or to seek advice from an outside Sage.

Herbs of the Planet Mercury

Since Mercury governs both the nervous and respiratory system it is involved with conscious and mental focus, so the herbs that relate to Mercury are often gentle yet stimulating.  They can excite the nervous system through taste and smell as well as to help to heal the respiratory system.  Mercurial herbs bring in clarity and focus and open up the mind and lungs for a fresh breath.

The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man #12-Ruled by Neptune- Water Element

The Hanged Man is a card that speaks of surrender, letting go, self-sacrifice and seeing things with a different perspective.  The Hanged Man is a very spiritual energy.  I often think of the Beatles song "Let it Be" in regards to The Hanged Man.  There is often a feeling of suspension or walking through water.  Sometimes it feels like nothing is happening.  Neptune is a planet of gases and is seen as the planet of illusion, spirituality, psychic energy. imagination and fantasy.  Neither The Hanged Man or Neptune are very good at setting boundaries.  Working with Neptune can intensify one's Spiritual connection and psychic abilities.

Death

Death #13-Ruled by Scorpio which is Ruled by Pluto- Water Element

The Death card in the tarot is a card of transformation and change.  A piece of one's life is dying and falling away.  Change is unavoidable.  Death is like entering into the cocoon and leaving as a butterfly. Scorpio energy is determined, intense, extremely powerful, transformational, magnetic and protective.  The energy of Pluto is that of letting go, forgiveness and unavoidable change.  Pluto allows us to see that although we have no power over death, we can let go gracefully of those things that need to die in order to create new beginnings.
